Catwalk Classics by Cathryn Brown

Catwalk Classics are based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, in the centre of what is known as the golden triangle of the north between York, Leeds and Harrogate. With direct access to the A1M .

I am a qualified and experienced seamstress having worked in the Bridalwear industry for 17 years. On completion of my HND in Clothing at Leeds College of Art (previously Jacob Kramer) where I obtained a distinction, and the title of Student of the year, I went to work for Limited Editions in Leeds. A bridal wear company specialising in Period and Couture Gowns and theatre costumes. Whilst there I had the opportunity to make garments for Opera North, West Yorkshires Playhouse, Lord of the Dance, Hollywood films and many more.

As my family arrived I moved to a local Bridal wear company Pear Tree Designs based in Wetherby.

I am now self employed and have a workshop in my own home, with consultations and fittings taking place by appointment only. This has allowed me to be able to offer the same quality of design and production without the overheads and expense of retail premises. All dresses are designed and made to order, this way I hope to be able to satisfy those brides who cannot find their dream dress 'off the peg' but presume that a couture dress would be beyond their budget.

From Sept 2006 through 2007 I forged close links with She's All That, a local boutique run by award winning milliner Woody Whittick. We worked closely together to offer a full top to toe service where you could get your outfit, hat, shoes and accessories all  coordinating for that truly unique look. Woody sadly had to close the shop in 2008 and has now moved on to other things, but I am always happy to help and advise customers on their accessories.

Together Woody and I had the opportunity to design and make the evening dress for Georgia Horsley, winner of the Miss England competition 2007.  www.missenglandwinner2007.co.uk

Some examples of our joint work featuring Georgia can be viewed in the online Hazelwood Castle Wedding Brochure page 46 - 47 http://www.hazlewood-castle.co.uk/weddings/index.html

For your own dress I can work with top quality silks from James Hare, brocades, satins and plains from Carrington, daywear and costume fabrics from fabricland, calico laine and fletchers fabrics plus many other fabric suppliers. You will have an initial consultation where you can disguss any of your own ideas, browse through the fabrics and have other design suggestions drawn for you, with absolutely no pressure to make a decision.

I also have a small selection of sample tiaras, veils and shoes by Shades to use for inspiration or to buy.

Contact me for a relaxed and informal approach to your biggest wedding day decision, your dress.

I do limit the amount of work I take on so early booking is recommended.
